  1. Campylobacter is a genus of bacteria that
  2. can cause serious outbreaks of 
  3. gastroenteritis. They grow best at 43°C, and
  4. so are well suited to the digestive tract of
  5. birds. Poultry is therefore the most likely
  6. source of a Campylobacter outbreak, although
  7. the bacteria can also be transmitted via beef
  8. or milk.
